Whether they live in our homes or in the wild, Subaru is committed to keeping all animals safe and healthy.

A partner since 2008, Subaru has donated over $28 million to the ASPCA and through Subaru Loves Pets has helped support the rescue, transport, adoption and well-being of over 230,000 animals across the country.

Loving the environment means more than loving the great outdoors. It means working to preserve it.

Since 2018, Subaru has partnered with TerraCycle.  Participating Subaru retailers collect hard-to-recycle trash that was headed to local landfills. We collect approximately 2 tons of this hard-to-recycle trash monthly, which will be converted to furnishings and other usable items and donated locally.

It’s our goal to make the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible.

Since 2015 Subaru, in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement Science, donated over 277,600 award-winning science books.  In addition, through our partnerships with Staples and we supported teachers and students with donations of S400,000 in gift cards and school supplies.

In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.

In 2020, Subaru and its retailers made a donation to Feeding America to provide 50 million meals to help feed people in need during the COVID-19 crisis,* making meals available at 199 local food banks across the country.
*$1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.

We should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. We’re aiming to give as many people that chance as we can.

Since 2016, Subaru and its retailers have partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to donate over 167,000 blankets and 21,500 arts & crafts kits and reached nearly 150,000 patients in more than 780 hospitals nationwide.

Love Promise Stories from Bert Smith Subaru

Subaru and Bert Smith Subaru believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here

Bert Smith Supports SE Guide Dogs Walkathon  –  Taylor E

Walkathon is Southeastern Guide Dogs' largest fundraiser of the year and proceeds help us breed, raise, train, and match our amazing dogs with people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges such as vision loss or the loss of a parent in the military. We’re encouraging the community to bring their dogs to these free, fun-filled, family-friendly celebrations. Bert Smith Subaru is our Signature Sponsor and we are so thankful for their support. Each year, Bert Smith Subaru participates in the St. Pete Walkathon in a big way by displaying their vehicles, handing out Subaru gear like hat and bandanas, and talking to participants about why they choose to support Southeastern Guide Dogs. Thank you! Taylor

Bert Smith Brings Hope  –  Niki M

On July 26th, the LLS Suncoast Chapter and Bert Smith Subaru has the pleasure of delivering 80 blankets to St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg as part of the Subaru Loves To Care program. These comforting gifts were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by the customers and staff of Bert Smith Subaru. The LLS staff was so fortunate to have two impactful volunteers, mother and daughter, Shandra and Shirley, attend the delivery as well. Shirley, a cancer survivor herself went the extra mile to share her experiences with a few patients relating to what they are going through. She gave the ultimate message of hope showing them that faith and strength played a huge role in keeping her hear today. Shirley also shared her experience with Mike, the manager of the dealership, thanking him for taking part in this and really explaining what a difference that blanket both physically and emotionally means to patients. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by the St. Anthony’s Hospital staff who were thrilled to distribute these comforting gifts to their patients. LLS is proud to partner with Subaru to spread hope, love and warmth to those fighting cancer, across the country and right here in the St. Petersburg community Many thanks to everyone at Bert Smith Subaru and St. Anthony’s Hospital, not only for a memorable day, but for supporting LLS’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Bert Smith Subaru Helps Cancer Patients  –  Sherri S

For the second year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) proudly partnered with Bert Smith Subaru for the Subaru Loves to Care program. On July 7, 2017 Bert Smith Subaru led by Mark Hover delivered 80 care blankets and 10 craft kits to cancer patients at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dan is a blood cancer survivor who previously received treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center and helped LLS and Bert Smith Subaru deliver blankets to cancer patients last year. He was so inspired by the experience that Dan wanted to help us again this year.Unfortunately, Dan's cancer returned and once again he became a patient at Moffitt. Determined not to let cancer beat him or deter his enthusiasm, Dan got up out of his hospital bed and insisted on helping us again this year! Featured in the photo with a mask on to protect his immune system, Dan joined Mark Hover from Bert Subaru and LLS to deliver care blankets to other cancer patients. They swapped stories and words of encouragement inspiring others to keep up the fight. The patients are so grateful to Bert Subaru and their customers for their support. The great news, Dan is back in remission and out of the hospital! Thank you Bert Smith Subaru for helping to spread warmth and well wishes to cancer patients at Moffitt Cancer Center.

Subaru and NWF Love the Earth  –  Kelsey S

Our students had a blast planting and learning about how to care for a garden. Many of them had never gardened before so watching them dig in the dirt getting messy was such a joyful experience. As we were taking one plant out of the box we noticed there was a slug so we all took turns admiring the little guy and talked about how he would be helping our garden.

Subaru Loves the Earth - E-Waste Event  –  Danielle S
